GET READY. TAKE ACTION!
The Massachusetts Attorney General filed legislation last January that would require all Reiki practitioners and teachers to be licensed. This bill hasn’t been voted on and remains in committee.
The next step is a public hearing, possibly as soon as September.
It’s critical we are heard at this meeting. That means MA residents and Reiki leaders testifying in person (via Zoom) and everyone flooding the committee with written testimony.
The hearing date is announced only 48-hours before the meeting. You have 24 hours to register to testify orally via Zoom or to send in written testimony.
We need to be ready.
As soon as the committee announces the date, Reiki Unified will email you the registration links and post them on our Facebook group.
Start writing now or preparing your talk so you are ready. Look at these talking points if you need help.
It’s vital that you contact the members of the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure after September 1 to express your opposition to these bills.
The legislative page now provides an overview of all current US licensing legislation and how the specific bills affect Reiki practice. Check it out!
Remember—states have a harder time passing licensing regulations when we are organized, building coalitions in our Reiki communities and with colleagues from other complementary modalities.
