What can I do now if I practice Reiki and I am concerned about potential Reiki Legislation in my State?

Go to your state legislature website and become familiar with the legislative process and how a bill becomes a law.
Learn how to search the bills before the legislature on keywords such as Reiki, licensure, somatic healing, and energy healing. Legislative Watch
Contact your state legislator(s). – https://openstates.org/find_your_legislator/
Start a relationship and make a connection now before any legislation is introduced in your state. Tell them about Reiki, why it’s important to you. Add why you are opposing Reiki regulation and how it will affect you and your family.
Ask them to contact you if any legislation is introduced in your state. (please note you cannot rely on them to do this. Some will contact you after the bill passes.)
Follow up with a phone call to make sure they received your letter.
Find out where they stand on occupational licensing.
Find out if it is possible to hold a Reiki demonstration for the legislators at the state capitol.
Develop a Reiki team in your state to work together to keep a legislative watch and to mobilize the whole Reiki community if a bill is filed.
Become familiar with the development process of forming a coalition with other modalities so that if a bill is filed you can work with them to develop a powerful opposition voice. (Seek out the state or national legislative representatives of the modality for the coalition members)
